Why is my website not getting any customers?

Last updated November 3, 2026

Your website is live. The link works, the pages load, and you have told people it is there — but the enquiries are not coming. A website can be open all day and still do none of the work it was built to do. The good news is that the cause is usually visible, if you check in the right order.

1. Can customers find it at all?

Start where a stranger starts: not with your business name, but with what you sell and your town. If your business does not appear for that search, visitors are not rejecting your website — they never reach it.

Check whether your Google Business Profile is claimed, verified, complete, and using the category customers would choose. Then check whether your website pages use the words customers type, or only the words you use inside the business. A beautiful site aimed at the wrong words is still invisible to the people ready to buy.

2. Can they understand it in five seconds?

When someone does land on the page, they should immediately see what you do, who you do it for, where you work, and what to do next. If they have to hunt through paragraphs to work out whether you can help them, most will not hunt. They will go back and choose the business that made it obvious.

3. Is there one clear next step?

A page that asks visitors to do five different things often gets none of them done. Choose the one action that matters most, make it unmistakable, and keep the route to text or email easy to find on every page. If contacting you takes effort, the customer has to want you badly before they begin — and strangers do not want anyone badly yet.

4. Does it work properly on a phone?

Most local customers will meet you on a small screen. If the site is slow, text is hard to read, buttons are awkward, photos distort the layout, or the contact route is buried, the visit ends before your work gets a chance to speak for itself. A site that looks acceptable on the builder's desktop preview can still lose customers every day on the phones in their hands.

5. Does it give strangers a reason to trust you?

People who already know you may not need proof. Strangers do. Real reviews, real photos of your work, clear services, service areas, prices where you publish them, and signs that the business is active all answer the question behind every first enquiry: "Is this business real, and can I trust it with my money?"

What it looks like when the website is doing its job

The right customer finds you while searching for the thing they need. Within seconds, they know you offer it, see proof that other people trust you, and have one easy way to reach you. Nothing has to be flashy. It has to be findable, clear, easy to use, and believable — all four, in that order.

How we fix it

Our Website Check-Up is $350. We examine your site in the same order above — being found, being understood, the next step, the phone experience, and the trust signals — and give you the specific problems in plain language, with the fixes itemized. The full $350 goes toward the fixes it lists when you have them done within 3 days. That means you know what is wrong before you pay to rebuild anything, replace anything, or guess.
