Why is my Google Business Profile getting fewer calls and clicks?

Last updated November 3, 2026

Your Google Business Profile used to bring calls and website clicks — and now, quietly, it brings fewer. Nothing looks broken. The listing is still there. But every customer who does not call you is calling the business listed next to you instead.

A call or a click is the last step, not the first

Most owners watch the interaction numbers — calls, clicks, direction requests — and try to fix the profile itself. But an interaction is only the final step of a decision a customer made in seconds, in three places before they ever touched your listing:

  1. The search itself. Customers do not search your business name first. They search what they need — the service, plus the town. If your profile's main category and your listed services do not match the words customers actually type, you are not in the results they are choosing from at all, and no photo or post brings back a customer who never saw you.
  2. The company you keep. On a phone, your profile appears beside two or three competitors. Customers compare ratings, how recent the reviews are, and whether the business looks open and active — all before anyone clicks. A profile can be complete and still lose that comparison every time.
  3. The trust check. Once a customer opens your profile, they are answering one question: "Is this business real, open, and right for me — right now?" Accurate hours, a working phone number, recent photos of real work, and services with clear descriptions answer it. Stale hours, an old address, or a thin services list quietly send them back to the list.

That is why adding posts to a profile nobody is shown for the right search changes nothing — and why a small fix in the right place can move calls without any advertising at all. So what does that mean for you? It means the question is never "how do I get more interactions?" It is "which of the three steps is losing my customers — and is it the same step for every service I offer?"

What being chosen actually looks like

When a profile is set up right, the customer journey is short: they search for what you do, your business appears among the trusted few, the profile answers their question in one screen — what you do, where, when you are open, and proof from other customers — and the next thing they do is call. Your website then does the second job: confirming the choice and giving them the full picture. Profile and website agreeing with each other — same name, same services, same details — is part of what makes Google confident enough to show you in the first place.

How we fix it

We start by finding which step is losing you: we search your services the way a customer would, on a phone, signed out — then we compare your profile against the businesses Google shows instead of you. We correct and complete the profile so it matches the searches that buy, align it exactly with your website, and set your services up in customers' own words. Our SEO Setup is $350, printed on our priced menu like every price we publish — it covers the foundation: your site structured the way Google reads, and your Google presence set up right. Steady monthly work after that is our Monthly SEO at $299 a month, for owners who want the climbing to continue.
