Why is my business not showing up on Google?
You did the work. You opened the business, you built the website — and when a customer searches for what you do, you are not there. Every search you miss is a customer who finds someone else instead.
First, find out which problem you actually have
"Not showing up on Google" is three different problems, and the fix for one does nothing for the others:
- Your Google Business Profile is missing, unclaimed, or not verified. That profile — not your website — is what puts you on Google Maps and in the map results at the top of a local search. If it was never claimed and verified, local customers may never see you at all.
- Your website has not been indexed, or is telling Google to stay away. A new site Google has never been told about, a sitemap that was never submitted, or a "hide from search engines" setting left on after the build all mean the same thing: your pages are not in Google's list, so they cannot be shown.
- You are indexed, but below your competitors. You show up when someone types your business name — but not when they type what you do. That is a ranking problem, and it is the only one of the three that takes steady work over time.
Two checks you can run on your phone, free, in ten minutes: search your business in a private browser window, signed out — that is what a customer sees, not what you see signed in as the owner. Then search for your own website by its address. If nothing comes back, you have problem 1 or 2, not problem 3 — and no amount of posting or ads fixes a site Google has not listed yet.

A customer searching "near me" is not browsing. They are ready to call, visit, or buy — today. When your profile and your website both show up for what you do, in the words your customers actually type, those ready customers land on you instead of the business listed above you.
